Workers Comp
Your workers' compensation carrier audits your payroll each year to set your premium. We prepare the reports that audit asks for.
What the audit needs
A workers' compensation premium audit reconciles what you estimated at the start of the policy period against what you actually paid out. The carrier wants payroll totals, broken down by class code, with officers, contractors and overtime treated correctly.
Because we already run the payroll, those records exist and are current. We pull them into the report the carrier is asking for.
Why the classification matters
Premium follows classification. Payroll recorded against the wrong class code, or overtime reported at the full rate where the rules allow it to be excluded, can raise a bill that did not need to be that size.
Talk to us before the audit rather than after. Call us and we will tell you what your carrier is likely to ask for.
